How to forward your business phone to Plumber Secretary (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Spectrum)
Step-by-step call forwarding setup for the four carriers most SoCal plumbers use. Takes about 30 seconds per line.

The single longest-running objection we get from SoCal plumbers is “setup sounds complicated.” It isn’t. Forwarding your business phone to Plumber Secretary takes 30 seconds per line on mobile carriers and about 2 minutes on a Spectrum landline.
Here are the exact steps for the four carriers most plumbing shops use in Southern California.
Before you start
- Sign up for any plan (the 7-day trial is fine).
- Grab your assigned forwarding number from the dashboard. It starts with
+1 (213). - Have the phone you want to forward in your hand.
If you have multiple lines (truck 1 cell, truck 2 cell, office landline), you’ll do this once per line. All forwards can point to the same Plumber Secretary number.
Verizon Wireless (business lines)
Most one-truck shops in LA are on Verizon. Two-line dial code:
Dial *72 then your forwarding number (example: *7212135550100) then press call.
You’ll hear a short confirmation tone. Call forwarding is now live.
To disable: dial *73 and press call.
AT&T Wireless
Popular in OC and the IE. Two-line dial code using standard European-format:
Dial **21*12135550100# and press call.
On-screen confirmation message appears.
To disable: ##21# and press call.
T-Mobile
Same European-format syntax as AT&T:
Dial **21*12135550100# and press call.
To disable: ##21# and press call.
Spectrum Business (landline)
This one has a web portal instead of dial codes:
- Log in at
business.spectrum.comwith your account credentials. - Open Voice Services → Manage Voice Settings.
- Select the line you want to forward.
- Find Forward All Calls. Toggle it on and paste your Plumber Secretary number.
- Save. Changes are live within 60 seconds.
Spectrum’s portal occasionally logs you out in the middle of saving; if the page feels stuck, refresh and re-check that the setting stuck.
Testing that it worked
Call your business number from a phone that isn’t the forwarded one. You should hear Plumber Secretary within two rings. Say “I have a leaking water heater” to trigger the full flow. You should get:
- An AI voice answering as your shop name.
- A calendar event booked (for routine calls).
- An SMS summary to your configured contact phone inside 30 seconds.
If you don’t hear the AI, check three things:
- Did you dial the forwarding code from the phone you want to forward, not a different one?
- Is the forwarding number correct? It should start with
+1 (213)with no other digits. - Did the carrier confirm the forward? Verizon beeps, AT&T and T-Mobile show an on-screen message, Spectrum shows a green indicator.
Partial forwarding (advanced)
Some shops don’t want to forward every single call — they want the forward to kick in only after 3 rings so they can answer when they’re free. That’s called conditional forwarding and uses a different dial code.
- Verizon conditional:
*71*12135550100then call. - AT&T / T-Mobile conditional:
**67*12135550100#(forward when busy) and**61*12135550100**30#(forward after 30 seconds no-answer).
For 9 shops out of 10 we recommend unconditional forwarding. She answers in 2 seconds regardless; having her pick up every call keeps the customer experience consistent.
Porting your number (optional)
You can also port your business number directly to our telephony vendor. Porting takes 7-14 days, costs nothing, and eliminates the forwarding step entirely — callers reach her directly. This is the right move once you’ve run the trial for a month and decided to keep the service.
To start a port, message support from the dashboard and we’ll send the LOA (letter of authorization).
If you’re on another carrier
The pattern is the same — every US carrier supports CF (call forwarding) via a short dial code. If you’re on Boost, Cricket, Mint, or a small regional carrier, either:
- Google “
[carrier name] call forwarding dial code” — first result is always correct. - Or message us and we’ll walk you through it.
Bottom line
Forwarding takes 30 seconds on mobile and 2 minutes on Spectrum. If you hit a snag, support replies inside 15 minutes during business hours. Most shops are fully live within 10 minutes of signing up.
Once forwarding is on, go back to work. Her first SMS summary usually lands within an hour.
Hear her answer a call.
